MRS Phyllis Margaret Furness, of Sandon Close, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 93.
Born in Grantham, the third child of Alfred and Bertha Wyman, she lived in the town all of her life.
In 1940 she married Charles Furness (Bill), in St Anne’s Church, Grantham. They had two children, Jacqueline and Elizabeth. Her husband predeceased her in 1981.
During her working life Mrs Furness had worked at Forbuoys, Conners and the Co-op, and she had also been manageress at the Pet Shop in Wharf Road.
Her main interests were gardening, knitting and reading.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by the Rev Nicky Marshall.
Family mourners included: Jacqueline Plant, Robert Plant, Elizabeth Short, Dave Scaife, Julie Short, Paul Short, Mark Featherstone, Natalie Short, Tom Aistrop, Nicholas Short, Terry McCollin, Josie McCollin, Melvyn McCollin, David Wyman and Graham Wyman.
Other mourners included: Bill and Julia Plant, Ed and Viv Plant, Sandra Brandon, Brian Short, Alan Short, Ann Mayfield, Melanie Short, Evelyn Richardson, Janet Lee, Mrs J. Gibson, Mrs Govan, John and Sue Woolmer, Kath Gadd and Mel Williams.
Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for the East Midlands Pacemaker Fund at Glenfield Hospital.
