MRS Viola Mary Geeson, of Water Lane, South Witham, has died at home. She was 98.

She was born in Grantham, and her father, Mr P. Grant worked at the main Post Office. Her mother died during the flu epidemic of 1918. Her step-mother was a cello player and played at picture houses in Grantham.

Mrs Geeson taught at Eaton Socan School, Cambridgeshire, and she also did secretarial work at Geeson Brothers Motor Business until her two children, Robert and Janet were born.

She was a life member of the Lincolnshire Trust for Nature Conservation. Mrs Geeson also enjoyed family holidays to their chalet in Mablethorpe, and keeping in touch with school friends.

The Rev T. Broadbent conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Family mourners included: Robert, Elizabeth, James, Dr J. A. Houghton, Nicole and Emma.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for North Witham Church.
