THOUSANDS of bees have mysteriously died in a village on the outskirts of Grantham.
Great Gonerby resident Christian Cundall contacted the Journal asking for help to determine the cause of their extraordinary death.
He said: “It is an interesting conundrum and I have never seen this many bees die in such a large number and proximity.”
The bees had been living in a hive in Mr Cundall’s chimney and were welcome to share his home, in High Street.
He said: “The beehive is in our chimney and has been present for years.
“While they are sometimes a nuisance with having two dogs, we have done nothing to deter or eradicate this nest as it is nice to see them buzzing around the garden.”
Even more puzzling is that on the same day Mr Cundall found the bees scattered across the pavement outside his home, a CCTV camera located to the front of his property failed to work.
