A group of young people participating in the National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme are fund-raising towards the installation of wildlife boards at Grantham’s Wyndham Park by holding a fete.

The wildlife boards – which have the backing of the district council and Wyndham Park Forum – will be designed with children in mind and will describe the different species of birds, insects and other animals found in the area.

The group of 12 teenagers will hold an event in the park on Tuesday, between 2pm and 7pm. There will be stalls, games, activities, a tombola, face painting, refreshments and more.

The NCS scheme is open to 16- and 17-year-olds and aims to help participants build social and life skills. Part of the course sees teams take part in social projects that aim to benefit the community, spending 30 hours putting them into action.
