New bar opens in Market Place, Grantham, to replace the Late Lounge

A new bar is opening in Grantham today in Market Place, replacing The Late Lounge which closed in February.

Alison and Paul Davies, who ran The Late Lounge, decided they wanted a change after running the club for 10 years.

Their new bar, called Edward’s after Paul’s father, won’t have a dance floor or a DJ and won’t sell food.

Paul said: “We had had The Late Lounge for 10 years and we saw a decline in that industry. We thought we would go for something a bit more grown up. It seemed like the sensible thing to do.”

The couple decided to name the bar after Paul’s father, who passed away last year, because he helped them refurbish the nearby Chequers pub when they took it over 15 years ago.

Edward’s has numerous TV screens and will play videos and music which will mostly consist of classic rock, indie and heavy metal. The bar also has outdoor seating.

Edward’s will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It will open from 5pm to midnight on Thursdays and Sundays, and 5pm to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.
