A dog lover has given up her job to go out on her own running a doggy day care centre.

Marie Barker has set up her own venture, called Absolutely Barkers, at her home in Rushcliffe Road, Grantham, where she can look after up to four dogs at any time.

Marie had already been dog walking for a year before setting up the business. She recently left her job at Kennelgate Pet Superstore.

Marie, 23, said: “I have always wanted to work with animals from a young age.

“I was quite nervous because I had given up my job to do this full-time, but I am getting more confident because of the good messages I am receiving and I am thinking this will turn into something good for me.

“You do not know how something will turn out until you take that leap of faith.

“This is like having a new puppy all over again. You keep working at it until you get where you want to be.”

At Absolutely Barkers, the dogs will be able to play with each other and they will be taken for an hour’s walk in the morning. Marie works one-to-one with the dogs and goes through basic commands, giving them plenty of exercise. She has a large cabin in her spacious garden for the dogs to play in.
