At this morning’s annual general meeting of the Grantham Community Heritage Association (GCHA), chairman for the past two years Helen Goral decided to step down.

Grantham Museum is run by the GCHA, which this morning appointed new chairman Coun Adam Stokes.

Mrs Goral, who will remain on the GCHA board as PR Director, said: “The last two years have seen the team achieve so much and I am incredibly proud to have been at the helm, however it’s time for someone else to take the museum forward.

“I will retain responsibility for media relations and marketing, and I’m confident that Adam will build on the team’s continuing success.”

Mrs Goral is currently standing as a South Kesteven District Council Conservative candidate for the Arnoldfield ward. She added: “I’d like to thank everyone for their support and to the exceptionally dedicated team I have been fortunate enough to lead, and hope that the coming year is as positive as the last.”

In February the museum re-opened after an extensive refurbishment, which has seen the internal space opened up, the installation of interactive exhibits, and the restoration of the original parquet floor.

The museum is currently looking for volunteers, especially to work in the shop, to help with school visits, and with fund-raising. Anyone interested can email info@granthammuseum.org.uk for further details.
