New father launches 'Mum Made Meals' in Grantham
A new father has launched a ‘healthy’ takeaway delivery service in Grantham.
Lee McCann, 29, of Queensway, Grantham, launched Mum Made Meals on Thursday to fill a ‘void’ left in the local takeaway service.
Lee, who came up with the idea after dropping from 19 stone to 13 stone, said: “After losing so much weight, I would often find myself struggling when I had been out the night before and didn’t fancy cooking so would often just grab a takeaway.
“I didn’t particularly want fast food but there was little option for anything else. I toyed with the idea of starting my own business providing good, homemade food that was easily accessible and at an affordable price for about a year.”
After becoming a father for the first time last May, Lee left his job to look after his son as his partner worked full time. It gave him the ideal opportunity to put his business plans into action.
Lee hired a chef and they ran a month-long trial, offering three basic meals including ‘slim down’ lasagne, pizza and cottage pie but has decided to just concentrate on offering a cooked breakfast on a Saturday and a roast dinner on a Sunday.
Lee added: “Everything is good home-made food and cooked healthily. Nothing is fried.”
Before launching on Thursday, Mum Made Meals received a four-star food hygiene rating.
Lee added: “The only reason that it wasn’t five stars is because we have no business history so they are going to revisit us in three months’ time.”
The business has already received positive reviews online.
Gayle Kimmings said: “Good quality ingredients. Perfectly cooked. Very generous portions. Will definitely order again.”
Jack Whyley also enjoyed his breakfast, adding: “Good quality ingredients, hearty warm breakfast. Very convenient, would recommend.”
