A brand new launderette has arrived in Grantham to cater to all clothing needs.

Laundrylils, based on London Road, opened onAugust 15 with its aim being to not simply wash, dry and iron customers’ clothes, but also to provide a relaxed and comfortable experience as well.

Owners Chris Lochrie, 44, and Lex Davidson, 36, are eager to make this the launderette that people will feel they can rely on. Chris said: “When you come into our shop, we want you to feel like you’re home.”

With their colourful 1950s inspired interior decoration, and comfortable layout, it’s clear that Laundrylils will give customers something more than just the standard launderette.

Lex said: “The image that you think of when you think of a launderette is something that’s pretty boring and bleak where you’re just sat watching the washing go round and round. We want you to come in and have a chat, maybe even a coffee.”

Their initial plan over the next few months is to build a strong, loyal customer base with the help of competitions that they will hold on their Facebook page; the prizes will vary but their first competition awarded an official Pimms hamper as the prize.

As for their long-term plans, Lex hopes that they can build a brand around Grantham, adding: “In a few years, I would love to have a series of shops dotted all around Grantham.”

Alongside building a loyal brand in Grantham, Chris and Lex wanted to emphasise that they are looking forward to giving something back to the community.

Lex said: “There’s so much going for Grantham and we would love to help be a part of that in any way we can.’’

They also added that, down the line, they would love to work alongside a Grantham-based charity.

Laundrylils is open Monday to Saturday (7am to 7pm) and Sunday (8am to4pm).

It also offers a choice of top brand detergents of the customer’s choosing.
