New Poundworld store to move into Brantano premises in Grantham

A Poundworld store is coming to Grantham and is due to open in early April, creating 30 jobs.

Poundworld will move into the store where Brantano is currently based on the Sankt Augustin Retail Park.

Poundworld confirmed that all former Brantano staff will be given the opportunity to apply for a role at the new store with jobs ranging from supervisors to sales assistants and management.

A Poundworld spokeswoman said: “We’re excited to open a Poundworld in Grantham this April and we look forward to welcoming Grantham shoppers to our store.”

The store will sell a large range of more than 5,000 items with savings on leading brands such as Johnsons, Colgate and Coca Cola.

Brantano went into administration earlier this year and the receivers managed to save some stores.

Grantham JobCentre says it is supporting recruitment for the store. It says retail assistants will receive the national minimum wage and supervisor pay will be £7.70 an hour.

Retail assistant contracts will be for 16 hours per week while supervisor contracts will be for 32 hours per week.

Applicants should have retail or customer service experience and roles include customer service, tills, stock control and merchandising.

To apply for a position at the new store email your CV and covering message to grantham.employeradviser@dwp.gsi.gov.uk.

Initial interviews will be carried out at Grantham JobCentre on Tuesday, March 22. Applications must be received by Monday, March 21.
