New Year’s message: Leader of SKDC Linda Neal
Councillor Linda Neal writes:
2015 is set to be a big year for Grantham.
Work is due to start on the long-awaited relief road which will mean that traffic heading for the A1 – particularly heavy lorries – will no longer have to go through the town centre.
The impact on the town will be huge and I know there will be sighs of relief from everyone who is tired of being stuck in Grantham’s infamous traffic snarls.
The good news continues as planning permission has been granted for a six-screen cinema project which will bring all the blockbuster releases to town and provide a welcome boost for the night time economy.
All of this will build on the work done over the last 12 months which has seen the welcome return of Marks & Spencer after a four-year absence and the announcement that food producers Oscar Meyer have decided to locate here and will ultimately provide up to 500 jobs.
This is tangible evidence that businesses are seeing the kind of potential in Grantham that the council sees and we believe that others will follow in their footsteps now that the initial investors have been landed.
2015 is going to be a great year for Grantham and I will be keeping you updated on our progress. Happy New Year!
