The owners of a Heydour fitness bootcamp have expressed their ‘immense relief’ after the planning application for their business was approved by South Kesteven District Council.

Co-owner Paula Williams said she felt like crying with relief when the application for Team Bootcamp was approved by the development control committee yesterday, while her husband Craig Williams is delighted that they can now focus on running the business.

After opening the military-style bootcamp at Heydour House in 2013, complaints were made by residents in the village and neighbouring Oasby and Aisby at the level of noise from music and military commands shouted by the fitness trainers.

In response, the bootcamp stopped playing music out loud last April, and have introduced wireless headsets as an alternative way for client’s to receive instructions from coaches during training sessions.

There was also a backlash against the close proximity of the bootcamp’s ‘trim trail’ to Heydour cemetery and grade II* listed Heydour Priory. The trail has now been relocated to another part of the grounds further away.

The previous complaints resulted in the change of use application put before SKDC’s development control committee in December, being deferred until this week. This time no objections were received from the parish council or residents, and the application was unanimously approved by the committee.

Following the approval, ex-Royal Marine Mr Williams said: “We just feel immense relief. We have worked with residents and they have all accepted the changes. We are delighted that we can now get on with running our business, which we feel is a massive asset to South Kesteven.”

Among those who have been put through their paces at the fitness retreat, are stars of reality TV shows TOWIE and Made in Chelsea.
