'No weapon located' after armed police deployed to 'samurai sword' incident in Grantham street
No weapon was found after armed police swooped on a street in Grantham at the weekend.
Police attended the scene on Stamford Street, Grantham, shortly before 5pm on Saturday, after reports of a man seen carrying a weapon, reportedly a samurai sword.
A police spokesperson said: "We received a call at 4.38pm reporting youths drinking on Springfield Road, Grantham.
Upon attendance our officers spoke to the youths. Some of the group said they had seen a male possibly carrying a weapon.
"In the interest of public and officer safety, armed police were deployed. A search of the area was carried out and no one carrying a weapon was located."
