Obituary: Miss Evelyn Mary Bean

Miss Evelyn Mary Bean (Mary), of Kings Court Nursing Home, Grantham, has died there. She was 94.

Born in Barnes, London, she had three siblings, her twin sister Margaret, and two older brothers, Maurice and Peter. Their family came from Ingoldsby and their parents met at the chapel there.

Miss Bean worked with her sister for the Post Office in central London.

During the Second World War she worked in the London Docks for the Red Cross, as well as keeping her job going.

She enjoyed going to Boothby Pagnell and helping on the family farm.

Miss Bean played the piano, learnt to drive and enjoyed her many friends.

The funeral service was held at St Andrew’s Church, Boothby Pagnell, conducted by the Rev Mike Doyle. She was buried next to her twin sister Margaret.

Although it was a cold day in December, her family and friends gathered to say goodbye to her.

Funeral arrangement were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
