Mr David John Vickers, of Allen Close, Billingborough, has died in Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, following a tragic accident. He was 66.

Born in Donnington Road, Horbling, he was the son of Honor Vickers and the late Leslie Vickers. He was brother to Tony and Janet, uncle to Paul and Amanda and great-uncle to Faith, Finlay, Grace and twins Jessica and Ellena.

After leaving school he worked at Rookfield Farm for over 40 years until ill health forced him into early retirement.

Mr Vickers cared for his elderly mother.

His interests included flower and vegetable gardening and football.

The funeral service was held at St Andrew’s Church, Horbling, conducted by the Rev Anna Sorensen. His ashes were interred at Horbling Church.

Family mourners included: Honor Vickers, Tony and Wendy Vickers, Janet and Henry Gelsthorpe, Paul and Emma Vickers, Amanda and Anthony Hewitt, James Gelsthorpe, Frank Burton, Colin Burton, Graham and Pam Burton, Nellie Burton, Jayne Burton, John Molson, Pam and Trevor Brett, Val and Tony Hussey, Dorothy Vickers, Marion Pridmore and Sandra and Michael Turner. Also attending were many friends and neighbours.

Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.

Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to £308.88 to date.
