Mr David William Stead, of Brick Kiln Place, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 90.

Born in Boston, Lincolnshire, he was the eldest of two children, having a brother, Harold. He lived in Boston until 2007, when he relocated to Grantham to be nearer to his family. Mr Stead was a widower, his wife having died in 1992. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his daughter and son-in-law and his two grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and had a keen interest in aircraft. Failing health in recent years left him housebound, however he always had a real love of life and a great sense of humour. He was dearly loved and well looked after by his many carers, making his time in Grantham very happy.

Robert Holland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel. His ashes will be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance in Boston, to join his late wife, Linda.

Family mourners included: Juliet Cowley, Philip Cowley, Alexandra Cowley, James Cowley, Hilary Lowis and Henry Lowis.

Other mourners included: Victoria Ambridge, Emma Robertson, Hayley Paddock, Helen Reeve, E. Morrison, Mr and Mrs Phillips, Lucinda Gamble, Lisa Waters, Stacey Widdowson, Hannah Pearson and Kelly Sayle.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.Donations were received for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
