Obituary: Mr Fred Farmer

Mr Fred Farmer, of Long Bennington, has died in Lincoln County Hospital. He was 85.

He was born in Marston and began his working life at Brown’s Bakery in Foston, leaving there to complete his National Service. Afterwards he returned to Foston and the bakery.

In 1950 he met Pearl and they married in Grantham. They began married life in Foston, where their two sons, Ian and Tony, were born.

Mr Farmer later worked at the plaster works in Staunton. He completed his working life at Vacu-Lug in Gonerby Hill Foot.

During his retirement he enjoyed working on his wood lathe and he also completed cross-stitch pictures.

Mr Farmer liked watching sport on television and playing bowls. He was greenkeeper at Long Bennington Bowls Club.

His other main interest was gardening and preparing plants in his greenhouse.

Mr Farmer was a good neighbour who was always willing to help anyone.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by the Rev Harriet Orridge.

Funeral arrangements were by William Roberts and Sons, Devon Lane, Bottesford.
