Mr Leonard Walter Cook (Len), of Derwent Road, Grantham, has died at home. He was 71.

Born in Grantham, he was the third son of Bill and Doris Cook.

He was husband to Susan, father to David, Karen, Nicola and Dawn and grandad to Kylie and Jake.

Mr Cook served in the 5th Royal Tank Regiment in Borneo and Germany.

After leaving the Army he went to work for Barpak. He then worked at BMARC until the factory’s closure. He then joined Moy Park where he remained until his retirement.

His main interest was fishing and he fished for Lord Harrowby Piscatorials, winning many trophies. He was a life member of Grantham Angling Association.

Mr Cook also spent many hours making dolls houses and matchstick aeroplanes and gypsy caravans.

Madge Marshall Brown conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Borneo veterans lined up at the entrance to the crematorium and saluted as the coffin passed by. A trumpeter from RAF Cranwell played the Last Post and a minute’s silence was held to remember all the Armed Forces.

Scott, Jock Kerr, Rachel McDonald, Sue McDonald, Jaime Ebert, Cydnie Ebert, Steve Caulton, Krystle Holderness, Mr and Mrs Tyers, Mr Caulton, Mr and Mrs McDonald, Raymond McDonald, Simone McDonald, Mick Kyme, Mr A. Spick, Mr D. Redmile, Mr J. Goode, Mr G. Reeve, Miss E. Beaumont, Mr D. Rock, Mr T. Parkinson, and Mrs S. Evans.

Funeral arrangements were by Geesons Funeral Directors, Westgate, Grantham.
