Mr Robert Eric James Handley (Bob), of Tennyson Avenue, Grantham, has died in Newton House Nursing Home, Grantham. He was 67.

Mr Handley was born in Grantham in 1945. He was brother to Kath, Barbara, Michael and Brian.

He was father to Teresa, Marie, Sharon, Carli and Chris, grandad to Matt, Kayleigh, Leia, Codie-Leigh, Mason, Izabella and Bailey and great-grandad to Harvey.

He married Gill in 1989 and although diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2005, they spent many very happy years together.

As a young man he was trained as a plumber with Fosters, the builders. Over the years he did various jobs and particularly enjoyed working outside.

His final job was at Grantham Wood Mill, until ill health.

Mr Handley’s greatest love was his family, enjoying many holidays with them. Chapel St Leonards and Primrose Valley, Scarborough, were two of his favourite places to visit.

He was a football fanatic, supporting both Manchester United and Grantham Town. He also played football until the age of 57.

Being a lover of sport, he also enjoyed whippet and greyhound racing and golf.

When at home, one of his favourite things was listening to, and singing to music. His favourite recording artist was Elvis Presley and his family played a recording of him singing Elvis’s Love Me Tender, at his funeral.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the Castlegate Unit at Newton House and Harrowby football team.
