Mr Richard Craddock Haw, of Ponton Road, Boothby Pagnell, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 76.
Born in Ropsley, in February 1938, he was the youngest of three children, having a sister, Susan and brother, David.
At the age of five he moved with his family to Harlaxton where he attended the village school. He later attended Huntingtower School.
In 1964 he married Pauline and they made their home in Boothby Pagnell. Their daughter Anna was born in 1968. He became grandad to Rosie in 2008.
From the age of 15 he worked on the local farm with his brother and father until 1962. He then worked as an archaeologist for the Welland Valley Research Committee, while lodging in Maxey, near Market Deeping. A year later he worked for Lincolnshire Highways.
Mr Haw was then employed as a digger driver for West Kesteven Rural District (which became South Kesteven District Council following reorganisation in 1974). He took a promotion to foreman in the Engineers and Surveyors department. He continued to work for the local authority and gained the position of transport manager before retiring in 1994.
In 1996 he helped his daughter to set up and run a successful greeting card business, until his health declined in 2012.
While working on the land in Harlaxton, he began finding flint arrowheads which lead to a lifelong interest of archaeology.
He was a keen gardener, growing fruit and vegetables, and at one time supplied a market stall with young brassica plants for sale.
Other interests included astronomy and the complex workings of the universe.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by the Rev John Bruce.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to £241.80 to date.
