Mr Royston Leonard Lovegrove, of Keats Avenue, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 92.
Mr Lovegrove was born at Elephant and Castle, London, the son of Albert and Edith Lovegrove.
He has two daughters, Carol and Virginia and six grandchildren.
He worked at the Post Office in London as a telegraph boy aged 14. During the Blitz on London he was on firewatch on the rooftops.
From 1940 to 1945 he served as an engineer in RAF Bomber Command, working on Lancaster bombers.
In 1946 he returned to the Post Office, working in Grantham as an overseer and remained there until his retirement.
Mr Lovegrove’s interests included cine photography, chess and reading.
The Rev Charles Boland conducted the funeral service at the Church of the Ascension, Edinburgh Road, Grantham. Burial followed in Grantham Cemetery, where he was interred with his late wife Nora.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for the Royal British Legion.
