Mr Walter Connell (Mick), of Bridge End Grove, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 80.
Born in Benwell, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in 1933, he was the son of John and Margaret Connell. He had an older sister, Joyce.
In 1979 he married Eunice. He was step-father to David and John, father-in-law to Sue and Sarah and grandfather to Jamie, Scott, Andrew, Daniel, Chloe and Rebecca, who he adored.
After leaving school Mr Connell served time in the Royal Navy, before learning his trade as a joiner in the construction industry. He was soon promoted to site agent for Pumfrey Construction.
Mr Connell enjoyed following the Formula 1 motor racing and he liked car restoration.
He loved watching his beloved grandchildren grow up and was extremely proud of his bungalow, which he built by himself.
The Rev Langdon-Davies conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.
Family mourners included: Eunice Connell, John and Sue Watson, David Watson and Sarah Durham, Jamie-Lee Watson, Scott Watson, Andrew and Daniel Watson, Rebecca Watson, Jenny and David Hardy, Malcolm Hardy, Dale and Clare Hardy, Felicity and Wes Clarke, Sam Clarke, David Clarke, Penny Bedford and Charles Smith, Ray Smith, Terry Bedford, Liz Edwards, Marilyn and Peter Mann and Jeremy Bedford.
Other mourners included: Bridget and Tony Gillbard, Diane Bloodworth, Phil Cooper, Peter Davey, Shaun Durham, Daniel Durham, Terry and Linda Pickup, Anne and Geoff Hackney, Joanne Watson, Adrian and Julie Green.
Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham
