Mrs Agnes Ellen Booles (Aggie), of Lime Tree Close, Fulbeck, has died in Welbourn Manor Nursing Home. She was 98.
Until fairly recently she had lived independently in her home in Fulbeck, until poor health forced her into care and she went into Welbourn Manor.
Mrs Booles was born in Lincoln in 1915, one of four children, two boys and two girls.
During her young life the family moved to homes in Dunholme and Langworth.
In 1934, at the age of 19, she arrived in Fulbeck to work at the Hare and Hounds.
After marrying George, she looked after his mother for seven years.
Her husband predeceased her in 1978.
Mrs Booles had worked on the land as a labourer and would often take her young son, Roy, along with her. She had also worked as the Village Post Lady, delivering the Royal Mail around the village on foot and on bike. She was never late with her deliveries and she carried out this role for 36 years. She retired in 1981.
An active person she played hockey in her youth. She also enjoyed gardening and walking her beloved labrador in later life.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by the Rev Barbara Hancock. Her ashes were later placed in her husband’s grave in Fulbeck churchyard.
Family mourners were: Roy and Helen Booles, Jessica and Joanne, James, Joy Richmond.
Other mourners were: Dorrie and Bill Tebb, Brenda and Michael Gilman, Rosemary and Bob Jones, Julian Fane, Brian Fisher and Wendy Marshall and Debbie Pitman (Welbourn Manor Nursing Home).
Funeral arrangements were by J. E. Severs Funeral Service, Little Hale, Sleaford.
