Mrs Brenda Parsons, of Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 79.

Born in Ancaster, she was the youngest of two sisters.

She was educated at Sleaford Girls’ High School and Grantham College.

In 1958 she married Maurice Parsons. They had two daughters, Claire and Joanne. She also has two grandchildren, Heidi-Louise and Lukas.

Mrs Parsons was widowed in November 2001.

She started work as a secretary at Duncan and Topliss, later becoming a medical secretary at Grantham Hospital in the mid 1970s. She joined St Peter’s Hill Surgery as practice manager in 1983, where she remained until her retirement in 1999.

Mrs Parsons enjoyed travelling, both in the UK and overseas. She was a volunteer for the National Trust at Belton House.

She liked gardening and also spending time with her grandchildren. A constant lover of animals, she was devoted to her golden retriever, Phebe.

The Rev Chris Boland conducted the funeral service at St John’s Church, Manthorpe. Burial followed in the churchyard.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the Myeloma Fund at Nottingahm City Hospital.
