Mrs Clare Gladys Leachman, formerly of Brittain Drive, Grantham, has died in Castlegate Nursing Home, Grantham. She was 93.

She was born in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.

The widow of Reg Leachman, she was the mother of Susan, David, Christopher and the late Michael Leachman, grandmother of Clare, Daniel, Rachael, Amelia and David and great-grandmother of Abbie, James, Joe and Isabelle.

During the Second World War she was transferred to Grantham to work at Pretty’s dress shop. She then briefly served in the WRAF.

From the mid 1960s she worked at Hill View Hospital, Dysart Road, Grantham, and then later at Grantham Hospital as a ward orderly.

Her interests included gardening and knitting.

The Rev David Shelton conducted the funeral at St Anne’s Church, Harrowby Road, Grantham. Burial followed in Grantham cemetery.

Family mourners included: Susan and Andrew Barker, David Leachman, Christopher and Susanne Leachman, Clare Gavin, Rachael Tunnard, Amelia Leachman and Abbie Gavin.

Other mourners included: Gillian and David Mahoney, Gillian Weightman, Mr and Mrs Parnaby, Angela Rudkin, Natasha Davies and Kim Harrison (Castlegate Nursing Home).

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
