Obituary: Mrs Dickie Brown

Mrs Dickie Brown, of Wyville, has died at home. She was 98.

She was born in Lincoln, to parents James and Jessie Hill. She had a brother, Ken and sister, Joan.

She was educated at St Joseph’s Convent School in Lincoln.

In 1950 she married Arnaud in Lincoln. They moved to Wyville in 1954, where she took an active part in village life.

Her husband has predeceased her.

At the outbreak of the Second World War she volunteered for the Land Army. After the war she went to Wisley, to train as an horticulturist.

She also spent time as a doctor’s receptionist in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir.

Mrs Brown enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and brushing up her French. She was an assistant at the Red Cross tea bar for many years. She was also a keen member of the WI and had previously been secretary of the PCC and village hall committee.

Mrs Brown loved spending time with her family and friends.

The funeral service was held at St Catherine’s Church, Wyville, conducted by Lesley Devine. Cremation followed in Grantham.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham. Donations were received for Macmillan Cancer Support.
