Mrs Frances Newson, of Birchwood Retirement Home, Dudley Road, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 96.

Born in Berkshire, she had four brothers and sisters.

She met her future husband while they were doing war work in a factory and she worked there until retirement age. She had eventually progressed to become an office worker and to her it meant she had succeeded in life.

She married Fred and they had two sons, John and David. Mrs Newson lived in the same house in Surrey for 70 years, until moving to Grantham three years ago to live in Birchwood.

After being widowed and when she could no longer cope at home, she moved to Birchwood Retirement Home, although regrettably the advance of dementia meant that she did not always understand or enjoy life.
