Obituary: Mrs Irene Edna Fryer


Mrs Irene Edna Fryer, of Cottesmore Close, Grantham, has died in St Edmunds Nursing Home, Grantham. She was 94.

Mrs Fryer was born in Grimsby.

She had been married twice. Her first husband was Charles William Longstaff (known as Bill) and latterly she was married to Alwyn Fyer.

She leaves a brother Ron, daughters Christine and Teresa and granddaughter Deborah.

Over the years Mrs Fyer had various jobs, working as a finance clerk; in insurance; as an usherette; and at Woolworths.

Her interests were Probus, knitting, Scrabble and going on cruises.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Tom McCrory.

Family mourners included: Christine Simpson, James Simpson, Debby Tutton, William Tutton, Ron Hicks, Betty Hicks, Teresa Hambling, Keith Hicks, Sam Johnstone, Cheryl Conway, Mike Conway, Bruce Bailey and Carys Bailey.

Other mourners included: Shirley Dowson, Peter Dowson, Yvonne Porter, Jean Woods, Judith Kenna, Philip and Sylvia Mason, David Neal, Elaine Neal, Sue Brazil and Jane Edwards.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for Motor Neurone Disease.
