Obituary: Mrs Joan Margaret Whiteaker

Mrs Joan Margaret Whiteaker, of Woburn Drive, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 80.

Mrs Whiteaker was born in Hounslow, Middlesex.

She was the widow of the late Norman Charles Whiteaker.

She was mother to Terry, Les, Lynn and Alan, grandmother to Scott, Neil, Paul, Lee, Stuart, Chris, Lyndsey, Emma, Amy and Jamie and great-grandmother to Jamie, Georgia, Alfie, Maisie, Sam, Mason, Holly, Henry, Polly and Grace.

Mrs Whiteaker worked as a telephonist at St Paul’s Exchange in London. She later worked as a school cook at Grove School in Rayleigh, Essex.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a lover of cats that led her to be a fosterer for Grantham ROCK for many years. Mrs Whiteaker was a big support to her friends and neighbours.

Robert Holland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Creamtorium Chapel.

Family mourners included: Terry and Chris Whiteaker, Les and Bridgit Whiteaker, Lyn and Phil Trapps, Alan and Jackie Whiteaker, Scott and Kirsty Whiteaker, Neil Whiteaker, Paul Whiteaker and Zoe, Lyndsey and Scott Simpson, Chris Trapps, Lee and Julie-Ann Whiteaker, Stuart and Lisa Whiteaker, Dave and Emma, Amy and Jamie Whiteaker, Tracy and Michael Whiteaker, and James Whiteaker.

Other mourners included: Cath Rowson, Joan Briggs, Peter Dowson and Jackie, William Morris, Jenny Meadows, Marilyn Smith, Susan Skelton, Ann and Stuart Cummings, Claire Roberts, Hannah Jordon, Alastair and Ann Simpson, Julie, John and Josephine, and Mr and Mrs Chandler.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for Macmillan and St Barnabas Hospice.
