Obituary: Mrs Joyce Meek
Mrs Joyce Meek, of Welby Everard Court, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 88.
Born in Grantham, in November 1926, she was the daughter of Edwin and Annie Cartwright and the youngest of five siblings.
On March 22, 1947 she married Joseph Meek (who she had known since she was 13), at St Wulfram’s Church, Grantham.
The couple had three daughters, Ann, Jane and Tina; four grandchildren, Nicky, Leila, Emma and Michelle; and three great-grandchildren, Josh, Oliver and Lennon.
Her husband predeceased her seven years ago.
After leaving school she went into domestic service. She also cared for her older sister who was bedridden.
When her daughters were older, Mrs Meek worked at Hilary Morgan bridal factory as a manageress, where she was well loved and made many friends.
Mrs Meek always loved cooking and making cakes. She and her husband used to bake together after he retired. The couple always had dogs, including their beloved Jake, who was a faithful companion to Mrs Meek until his death five years ago.
She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren and also enjoyed going out with them on day trips to different cities, to the seaside and shopping. Mrs Meek loved family holidays too.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Andrew Key, with readings by Leila Senior, Emma McMullan and Michelle Fovargue.

Funeral arrangements were by David Holland Funeral Directors, London Road, Grantham.
