Mrs Margery Jarman, of Gregory House, Welby Gardens, Grantham, has died there. She was 97.
Mrs Jarman was born in Brooke, Rutland.
She left school at the age of 14 and went to work as a maid in Wing, Rutland.
At the age of 19 she married Jack and they had a daughter, Jean.
After the Second World War the couple moved to Boothby Pagnell, where they enjoyed village life.
Her husband died of cancer, leaving her a widow at the age of 39.
Mrs Jarman then went to work at Ransome and Marles in Newark, until her retirement.
Her interests included knitting, reading, scrabble, playing cards and visiting relatives and friends.
She enjoyed holiday with friends, taking bus tours around the British Isles. Her favourite places were Scotland and the West Country.
Mrs Jarman loved to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she had just become a great-great-grandmother.
Robert Holland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.
Family mourners included: Jean Topps, Amanda, Alan, Emma and Alex, John and Lynn Topps, Darren Topps, Adrian Topps and Hannah, Mark, Alice and Molly, Anne and David Sutton, Mark Sutton, Jane Greehalgh and Keith, Stephen Greenhalgh, Michael and Janet Greenhalgh, Jon and Claire Greenhalgh, and Brian and Elaine Greenhalgh.
Other mourners included: Jane Brisco, Neville France, Zenda Dempster, Gill Lenton, Irene Freeston, and Margaret Freeston.
Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for Dementia UK.
