Mrs Rita Mary Scorror, of Tweenwoods, Colsterworth, has died at home. She was 79.

Born in Amber Hill, near Boston, Lincolnshire, she was the eldest child of Sid and Mary Willingham.

She attended Boston Girls’ High School and then moved from Fishtoft to the teacher training college at Stoke Rochford.

Mrs Scorror taught at a number of schools in the Grantham area, including Springfield County Secondary School, prior to her marriage to John in 1960.

The couple had three children, Bill, Joanna and John.

Mrs Scorror was actively involved in Grantham Young Farmers’ Club for over 30 years as a member, club leader, advisory member and president.

She was a governor of Colsterworth Primary School and Charles Read School, Corby Glen, for a number of years, as well as being a parish councillor and a keen member of the local Conservative Association.

The Rev Eric Lomax, assisted by the Rev Andrew Perry, conducted the funeral service at St Guthlac’s Church, Fishtoft.
