NEW YEAR MESSAGE: ‘Real progress on building town’s east-west bypass is my goal for the next year’

Have your say

I HOPE you have all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and are looking forward to the New Year.

For many people it is a time for making exciting plans and promises for the future but we mustn’t forget those for whom 2012 brings hopes and dreams of something better to come.

For Grantham I look forward to seeing real progress on plans for a bypass for the town.

The building blocks for the bypass are now falling into place despite the difficult financial climate.

With the support of the district council, we will continue to push this important project forward as quickly as possible for the benefit of local people and future prosperity of Grantham.

It will undoubtedly lead to an improved infrastructure and further investment in the town.

I’d like to encourage all of you to do something selfless this coming year such as volunteering in your community – helping to add your own special touch to what makes Lincolnshire a great place to live.

Whether it is spending time with someone who you know is alone and would appreciate the company, or making some kind of contribution to a charity that is close to your heart, these things will make the lives of many people a whole lot better.

Whatever it is that you decide to do – take pride in being part of Lincolnshire’s community.

Most important of all, have a healthy and successful 2012.

Martin Hill OBE,

Lincolnshire County Council
