HAVING seen the rampaging morons on television looting and burning property, it gave me the idea to write about the youth of our town.
The Mayoress and I during recent weeks have been privileged to attend three of the many organisations within the town catering for the youth.
The first was Walton Girls’ High School where we were invited to view the sixth form artwork, which was of a very high standard. It was obvious the young ladies had put a lot of hard work into their respective projects.
The second was the Grantham School of Dance whose annual show was second to none, from the three-year-olds to the young adults and the young 83-year-old, every one of them kept the audience enthralled. I would recommend anyone who has the opportunity to see them perform should not miss any show they are involved in.
The third organisation was 47F Air Training Corps where nine cadets passed out having completed their 18 weeks basic training and have now joined their respective squadrons where they will go on to learn many disciplines such as flying, shooting and camping.
The people from the three organisations are a credit to their teachers and instructors and also their parents. They have set out on a course which makes them readily accept discipline and will eventually lead them to become model citizens.
We are very fortunate in Grantham to have these and many other self-disciplined individuals who are the future of our town.
It is also heartening to see the children using the new Arnoldfield adventure play area in Gonerby Hill Foot. Unlike other play areas this is not being vandalised and is bringing a lot of pleasure to the youngsters and parents alike.
