Organ donation law will help save many more lives, say Grantham campaigners
This year a new law comes into being which means people living in England will need to opt out of donating their organs if they don’t want their organs used for transplant after they die.
The new regulation will start in the spring. It is designed to help save and improve more lives. Every day across the UK, someone dies waiting for a transplant because there is a shortage of organs.
The opt-out plan, also known as Max and Keira’s Law,will mean people will be considered to have consented to organ donation unless they have opted out or they are excluded. People under the age of 18 are excluded.
