A Grantham nursery has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the second time, with its leadership and management described as ‘exemplary’.
Following the inspection of Headstart Nursery on Dudley Road on January 16, Ofsted inspector Jacky Kirk said: “Leadership and management are exemplary. The extremely effective supervision systems in place ensure teaching is consistently of an inspirational quality. Staff are exceptionally responsive to meet all children’s individual needs.”
The nursery caters for a total of 267 children, from birth up to the age 12 for those who take part in their after-school clubs.
In her report, Ms Kirk said: “Activities are inspiring and meticulously planned. They consistently provide children with learning experiences that provide optimal challenge. They ignite children’s curiosity, stimulate their imaginations and spark their creativity.
She added: “Children make consistently high rates of progress in relation to their starting points. They are energetic learners, confident communicators and assertive problem solvers.”
It all comes as welcome news to managers of the nursery Nicola George and Tiffany Williams. “We’re ecstatic, and so pleased with all the praise for the staff,” said Nicola. “We also want to say a big thank you to the parents, who were queuing up to give their positive feedback to the Ofsted inspector - even more than she needed!”
Also delighted is Headstart area manager Rita McMath, who added: “The Ofsted inspector said she had difficulty finding a fault. It was very positive about the entire team, who all work very hard. I know that the owners Sue Jenkins and Di Smith are very proud, and see this as a flagship nursery in the group.”
