Grantham performing arts pupils to recreate theatre experience

Performing arts students at Grantham College will attempt to recreate a theatre experience directly into people’s living rooms.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s higher education pupils are unable to ‘tread the boards’ in their annual final showcase.

Determined to press ahead, the pupils have produced a film ‘The Show Must Go On’, that will be streamed on YouTube tomorrow (Saturday) in order to complete their college qualification.

Stevie Cairns, course leader, said: “As the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented theatre taking place across the globe, the college was still eager to give our students not only an opportunity to perform to an audience but closure to their time at Grantham College.

“Many of the students have been with us for three or four years and leaving to pastures new. They have undertaken a huge task of rehearsing, creating and filming their material ready for Saturday night.

“I’ve worked with these students for several years and their passion continues to amaze me. They have been a pleasure to work with and have been inspirational during this time.”

The students hope this free event will allow them to demonstrate their talentsand will include an interactive chat with the cast members and fellow audience members.

The event will be streamed on the Performing Arts YouTube page at 8pm tomorrow.
