A charitable pianist from Grantham has come to the aid of hospital staff and agreed to do a star turn at a Christmas party for patients.

Last week, staff at the older adult Manthorpe Centre, based at Grantham Hospital, issued a plea for musicians to play at the Christmas bash they had organised for patients on the ward.

The previous booking had to pull out, placing a question mark over whether the party could take place at all.

Then Paul Emmett, a budding pianist from the town, came to the rescue! He agreed to play some festive tunes and also bring along a few friends to help the party, taking place today on Friday, go with a swing.

Chris Button, activity co-ordinator for Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said he was really pleased someone had come forward.

“Paul has very kindly offered to play us some Christmas tunes on his piano to brighten up the day for patients – he’ll be playing a selection of old and new,” he said.

“He’s also bringing a friend along who’s an amateur magician so I am over the moon with that.

“Staff at the centre are eternally grateful for the very kind offer.”

Chris is looking for more volunteers to get involved on a regular basis. If you can help, call him direct on 01476 464848.
