Platinum wedding anniversary in Fulbeck

Wedding anniversary.
Wedding anniversary.

A couple celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today say: “It’s not worth a big fuss.”

Grace and Malcolm ‘Mac’ Stones from Fulbeck, married on April 11, 1945 after meeting in Tetney, where Grace worked in the post office and village shop and Mac on a nearby farm.

Grace, 90, said: “It was cold and in wartime so it wasn’t a lavish wedding, but we had a lovely day.” Life-long farmer Mac, 91, also worked at Well and at Caythorpe until 1989, when they moved to Fulbeck.

Their children John and Joyce, grandchildren Jenny, Ben and Amy, and six great-grandchildren are joining them on their Platinum day.

Grace admits: “We didn’t know what 70 was before - we had to look it up!”
