Armed police and chopper in Grantham swoop

Armed police and a helicopter swooped into Grantham, following reports of a man brandishing a weapon.

Lincolnshire Police say they received reports of a man possessing a weapon just after 8pm on Monday.

A spokesperson said: "We deployed firearms officers following a report that someone was in possession of a weapon in Beechcroft Road, Grantham

"Firearms officers, supported by the NPAS helicopter, traced the vehicle to the travellers rest site."

"A man in his 20‘s was arrested and has since been release with no further action and a BB gun was recovered."

There were no reports of the gun being used.
