Properties in two villages have been broken into after windows were smashed with a rock or brick.

Yesterday (Monday) morning a property in Stoke Rochford was entered after a rear window was smashed. Another property was broken into in Welby in the afternoon.

Police say a vehicle was seen near both properties before the break-ins occurring. The descriptions of the vehicle are similar but not definitive. The make of vehicle is uncertain, however it has been repeatedly described as a black car with a blacked-out rear window and alloy wheels. The vehicle was seen with two people inside. There are no details of any stolen items.

A police spokesman said: “It is difficult to prevent a break-in where the offender is willing to make a significant noise breaking glass. To help deter offenders, remove items of value from view and ensure that window locks and any doors, external and internal, are locked if they can be, remove keys and store out of sight.”

If anyone recalls any suspicious vehicles or people yesterday in connection with the incidents they should call 101, quoting incident number 51 of 15/05/2017 (Stoke Rochford) or 321 of 15/05/2017 (Welby).
