Police renew appeal to find thief who stole Grantham pensioner's Christmas money

Police are appealing for help to find the offender who stole a purse containing £400 of Christmas money from an 80-year-old woman.

On Tuesday, December 10, at about 11.35am, Jaqueline Richardson had her purse stolen from her handbag in Sainsbury’s in Grantham. Her purse contained a bank card, a large quantity of notes, and a couple of photographs, including one of her late husband.

About 10 minutes after the theft, an attempt was made to use the bank card at the Spar on Bridge End Road.

A friend of the family, Steph White, set up a GoFundMe appeal to raise the money which was quickly successful.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: "Extensive CCTV enquiries have failed to identify the offender and so we are appealing to the public and asking for anyone with any information to come forward quoting incident 287 of 10 December 2019".

Anybody with information is asked to contact the police in one of the following ways.

  • Call 101 with the incident number
  • Email force.control@lincs.pnn.police.uk referencing the incident number in the subject box
  • Call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
