Police stage practical training exercise in Grantham

Police officers are taking part in a simulated training exercise around Grantham today to test their practical application of knowledge.

Thirty police constables from Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham, Lincoln, are taking part in the exercise as part of their 16 week training programme, which runs from April until September.

They will be responding to staged scenarios set up around town throughout the day.

Police constable Billy Spence said: "We have all be assigned different zones in town."

A spokesman from Lincolnshire Police said: “Practical sessions within the community are a really important part of student officer training schedules. It is where scenarios are presented and our recruits get to put their learning to the test in a real setting. It also helps build understanding of the communities they will be working in. We would like to thank the people of Grantham for welcoming our officers. Our students always wear blue arm bands to say they are taking part in training but we would offer apologies to anyone left wondering what was going on.”
