Wintery conditions have been blamed for an incident in which a car came of the road in Irnham and crashed into a ditch.

Emergency Services were called at 8.37pm last night to the incident on Hawthorpe Road.

The incident involved one Mercedes Benz Saloon, driven by a man in his 50s, who called for help when his car came off the road. Fire crews cut the man free from the car.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed that wintery weather conditions at the time made for hazardous driving conditions. Thankfully, the man was not seriously injured. Lincolnshire Police and all other partner agencies would like to thank the members of the public and local residents who stopped to help and offered assistance. We are grateful to you for your help.”

Fire crews from Grantham, Bourne and Corby Glen were called to the scene.
