Police warn Grantham shed owners to be vigilant following series of thefts

Lincolnshire Police is asking owners of sheds in Grantham to make sure their outbuildings are secure following a spate of break-ins.

There have been a number of incidents across the town where sheds have been broken into and items stolen.

Crime Prevention Tactical Advisor Sally Picker said: “We are seeing tools stolen in these thefts but also have a problem with cycles being targeted.

“Please take a moment to have a look at our advice page relating to home shed and outbuilding security but also take five minutes to just think about what you have stored in your shed – is there anything expensive in there that would be particularly interesting to thieves? Is it secure and difficult to steal if someone does get in? Can you keep anything expensive or valuable more safely indoors?

“Also considering the placement of your shed is important – is it locked and in view? Do you have any security lighting outside? All of these measures can help deter potential thieves.”
