Lond-standing district councillor – and former cabinet member – Mike Taylor has been unsuccessful in the district council elections, as has his wife, Jean.
The pair defected to UKIP from the Conservative Group earlier this year, following unrest within the group and several arguments with Conservative colleagues.
Both failed to gain enough votes to win seats in the council chamber – instead, Conservatives Helen Goral and Dean Ward were voted in.
Coun Goral said: “I’m really pleased. It has been a hard campaign.
“We will be making sure that we address the concerns of residents. We’ve heard that they want an improvement in the retail offering, free parking, greater leisure services, and have also brought up problems with bin collections.”
