GRANTHAM MP Nick Boles failed to properly register earnings for a second job, recently.
Mr Boles declared his initial monthly salary from the think-tank ‘Institute for Government’ and put the annual salary in brackets.
But he did not realise that he was supposed to declare the salary each month.
He said: “It was a mistake on my part. The way the system works we have to declare each payment. I didn’t think we had to. It was the same amount every month like any normal salary.
“I didn’t declare any of the following months.”
A Parliamentary Commissioner’s officer noticed the mistake and ordered Mr Boles to declare 18 payments of £2,216.
Mr Boles added: “I had to write a letter to explain what I did wrong. I think it’s all fairly straightforward.”
