Should people knock on doors to canvass votes for the May 6 election?

With the May 6 local elections looming, candidates going to the polls face a crucial question in the run up to the big day.

Get it right and they can count on all-important votes that could clinch a seat on the council. Get it wrong and their democratic dreams could be dashed.

To help them do the right thing, have your say in our reader poll.

On May 6 people in Lincolnshire can vote for new county councillors and a new police and crime commissioner.

Anyone not registered to vote should do so by April 19.

This can be done online here or call the SKDC elections team on 01476 406080 or email elections@southkesteven.gov.uk

To register to vote by post or proxy download, print and fill in the application form by clicking here and following the link to the Electoral Commission website.

Postal and proxy vote applications cannot be submitted online as the application form must be signed. Scan or take a picture of the completed form and email it to elections@southkesteven.gov.uk or post it to Electoral Services Team, SKDC, St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, NG31 6PZ.

The deadline for postal vote registration is April 20 and the proxy vote deadline is April 27.
