Fans sang and cheered after seeing Portugal win the title for the first time. They had watched the game in local pubs, Portuguese cafes and at home before coming out to celebrate together in the town centre.

Portuguese resident Connie Bruno said: “The community watched the game in their houses and some in the Portuguese cafes in the town but all concentrated at the Guildhall after the game finished and celebrated together. My community deserves that happiness and respect because they were there to celebrate with each other without causing any disturbance.”
