Power cuts were caused by cable fault affecting more than 600 properties in Grantham

A series of power cuts which hit the town yesterday were caused by a fault in an underground cable.

Western Power Distribution says the fault happened at 11.50am yesterday and affected a total of 607 properties in the town, originating from the Spittlegate Level area.

A spokesman for the electricity company said that within a minute 382 properties had had power restored after power was re-routed around the fault. By 1pm the company says all but one property had had power restored.
